Israel Scenes for U.S. Jews Who’ve Never Been There
A few of the photos I took on my Diaspora Jew’s pilgrimage to our people’s homeland – Jerry Verlin
Muslims deem it the obligation of every adult of their faith to perform a Hajj, to visit the Kaaba in their holy city of Mecca at least once in their lifetime. We Diaspora Jews should experience a similar pilgrimage to our people’s three-millennia homeland of Israel. If you haven’t been there, here are a few of the photos I took of the deeply moving wonders to be seen there
On the left, Jerusalem scenes: city wall, Western Wall, view from Mount of Olives, traditional site of David’s Tomb, ancient tombs adjacent Mount, Dome of the Rock, Al-Aqsa Mosque, Tower of David, Menorah at Knesset.
On the right, Masada, Solomon’s Pillars, Judean wilderness cave, capital of pillar at 2d-3d century CE synagogue at Capernaum [no, we weren’t “exiled”], centuries later synagogue at Safed, Herod’s aqueduct at Caesarea, fishes & loaves mosaic floor at early church in Tabgha, a view of the River Jordan, Nebi Samuel near Jerusalem.
It is the trip of a lifetime.
